Dr Kevin Casas-Zamora, Secretary-General at International IDEA, will participate in the panel "Mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on democracy", which will be part of the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, on 7 September, 14:30-16:00 CEST.

The recently updated International IDEA’s Global State of Democracy Indices now cover the period from period from 1975 until 2020. The Indices provide information on 116 democratic indicators for 165 countries.  For the first time, democracy data from Fiji is included in the study.

In connection with Indonesia's General Elections and Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in 2024, International IDEA in collaboration with the Network for Democracy and Electoral Integrity (NETGRIT) assists the General Election Commission (KPU) in examining various options for an effective electronic vote recapitualation system.

A historic first, the Chilean Constitutional Convention embeds gender parity by design. The resulting body, comprised of 78 men and 77 women, will write Chile’s new constitution. 

La Convención Constitucional chilena, como hito histórico, contempló un diseño de paridad de género en su integración. Como resultado, una entidad integrada por 78 hombres y 77 mujeres redactarán la nueva constitución chilena.

In February 2021, Perludem and Djokosoetono Research Center (DRC) of Universitas Indonesia, launched their flagship journal, the Asia Pacific Journal of Elections and Democracy (APJED) under The Asia-Pacific Regional Support for Elections and Political Transitions (RESPECT) program conducted by Perludem. APJED serves as a forum that records various research related to elections and democracy in the Asia-Pacific region.

Marking the launch of the Parliamentary Talks series, OGP, International IDEA and Directorio Legislativo invite policymakers, experts and civil society partners to take stock of the progress made and challenges faced by parliaments in strengthening democracy in the Eastern Partnership region.
