On 15–16 October, around 50 experts and practitioners from across the world met in Stockholm for the Global Expert Meeting on Protecting Elections, hosted by International IDEA with the support of the Government of Canada. Over two days, representatives of electoral management bodies, regional electoral networks, and government institutions from more than 15 countries discussed experiences and ways forward for the International IDEA’s Integrated Framework for Protecting Elections.

This report delivers a comprehensive review of out-of-country campaign regulations across all 27 EU Member States. It synthesises legislative analyses, international standards and interviews to map rules on campaign events, media and public gatherings beyond national borders.

On 14 February 2025, International IDEA and the Finnish Ministry of Justice (MoJ) co-hosted the Protecting Elections Technical and Advisory Support Event in Helsinki. The event, organized as part of the Protecting Elections Project funded by the Government of Canada, focused on reinforcing Finland’s electoral integrity in the information environment through combating mis- and disinformation in elections.

Tras el éxito del primer taller celebrado en junio de 2024, este evento continúa la colaboración entre IDEA Internacional y el Ministerio de Justicia en el marco del proyecto Protección de las elecciones, financiado por el Gobierno de Canadá.

International IDEA and the Finnish Ministry of Justice co-hosted a Protecting Elections Capacity Development Workshop in Helsinki, Finland, from 25-27 November 2024. Following the success of the first workshop held in June 2024, this event continues the collaboration between International IDEA and the Ministry of Justice under the Protecting Elections project, which is funded by the Government of Canada.

International IDEA and the Finnish Ministry of Justice organized a Protecting Elections Workshop in Helsinki, Finland, on 17-18 June. This event, the first since formalizing their partnership under the Protecting Elections project, brought together various national organizations to discuss electoral integrity challenges and solutions. Finland is a mature democracy with excellent track record in the organization of elections. The electoral management is the responsibility of a dedicated team within the Ministry of Justice, which—due to a wealth of knowledge and experiences—is considered an important project partner.
