This free, online workshop will bring together academics and practitioners to discuss current challenges of electoral integrity around the globe, addressing questions such as: What role do elections play in this debate on democratic backsliding? What new challenges are elections facing? Have the practical challenges of organizing an election during a pandemic proven too strong?

The Electoral Tribunal of Panama (TE), with the support of International IDEA, held its second workshop on spokespersons and crisis management, on May 5 and 6, 2023. This time, for the people responsible for communication in the regional offices of the institution, as part of its 360º Communication strategy and preparation for the general elections of May 2024.

“In Peru, out of more than 1,800 mayoralties nationwide, only 112 are held by women,” says Modesta Yauri Romero, president of the National Association of Women Mayors of Peru. “It's difficult for us to do politics; machismo is still ingrained,” she adds.
