Rather than focusing solely on a questionable constitutional interpretation process, complementary democratic pathways through the COVID-19 emergency and election delay should also be considered.

With more than 70 national elections scheduled for the rest of year worldwide, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is putting into question whether some of these elections will happen on time or at all.
Africa as a region has the lowest levels of internet penetration in the world. According to the International Telecommunication Union, only 25 per cent of individuals access the internet in sub-Saharan Africa, and around 50 per cent in Northern Africa. Yet, this does not isolate it from the growing influence of social media and its capacity to manipulate public opinion online.
