As the Chair of the Council of Member States of International IDEA, Canada and International IDEA will host an in-person panel discussion on “Youth civic and political participation: shaping our democracies and our fight on climate change” on 2 June 2022, from 09:30 to 11:00. The event will take place at International IDEA’s Headquarters at Strömsborg 1 in Stockholm.

The fifth-panel discussion under the Anticipating Elections in Fiji series will be on the following topic: 'People with Disabilities and the Elections'.

In this panel discussion, we will hear the difficulties that are faced by people with disabilities to participate in elections and what provisions are available under the laws in Fiji to make elections inclusive.

Panel 1: Una mirada sociopolítica

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and the Government of Italy are co-organizing the virtual Conference SDG 16  'people-centered governance in a post-pandemic world,' 21-22 April 2022.

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) and the Arab Network for Democratic Elections (ANDE) will hod the launch of the “The State of Democracy in North Africa and the Middle East , Aspirations for democracy halted by Covid-19” on 20 April 2022 in Beirut, Lebanon.  

The fourth panel discussion under the 'Anticipating Elections in Fiji' series will be on the following topic: Vote Counting & Verification Process. This panel discussion will examine how voters counted and verified candidate in the upcoming General Election, and politics parties and CSO’s should look out for during the Counting and Verification process.

Democracy cannot be taken for granted. It has to be protected and supported constantly and by all means, at the domestic and international level, harnessing its capacity for self-correction and innovation.

A red thread links the responses to the pandemic crisis and the capacity to address challenges like those posed by the Russia-Ukraine war: the importance of a rules-based international order for both preventing violent conflict and aggression and coping with global crises.

The third-panel discussion under the “Anticipating Elections in Fiji” series will be on the topic: Candidates and the Elections. This panel discussion will discuss how to become an effective candidate in the upcoming General Election and how to fundraise for the election.

The General Elections Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) has been at the forefront of innovation when it comes to keeping the developmental momentum of electoral administration in the world's third largest democracy. Through this international seminar appropriately themed "Adopting Technology, Promoting Transparency and Enhancing Integrity", KPU RI will showcase its most recent achievements as well as obtaining insights from international experts on global trends.

The world is becoming more authoritarian as non-democratic regimes become increasingly brazen in their repression, and many democratic governments restrict free speech and weaken the rule of law.

Join our online roundtable that aims to contribute to a better understanding of the current and likely future effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on democracies in Armenia, Georgia and Moldova. In addition, the discussion will aim to distill recommendations on how national and international democracy assistance providers should revise their actions in response to this crisis.
