El 26 de agosto de 2025, IDEA Internacional, en colaboración con el Tribunal Electoral de Panamá, organizó un evento de apoyo técnico y asesoramiento de un día en la Ciudad de Panamá, como parte del proyecto Protección de Elecciones, financiado por el Gobierno de Canadá. Este evento, el tercero bajo el paraguas de Protección de Elecciones en Panamá, reunió a más de 30 participantes, entre ellos representantes del Tribunal, la Fiscalía General de la República, otros organismos estatales clave, la academia y organizaciones de la sociedad civil. Los debates se centraron en la identificación y mitigación de los riesgos de fraude y corrupción, con especial atención al financiamiento político y de campañas.

This global methodology provides a structured, in-depth framework for analysing the enablers and incentives behind election-related foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI). Developed with and for civil society actors, it is designed to support context-specific research, strengthen analytical capacity and inform practical responses to FIMI threats that undermine democratic processes.

A three-day media symposium on The Role of Journalism in Bhutanese Democracy was held from 11 to 13 August 2025 at Terma Linca Resort, Thimphu. It brought together the Members of the Parliament of Bhutan, parliamentary communication officials, senior journalists and media experts.

The rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI) throughout the world is raising critical questions about how the technology will impact all aspects of society—from media, art, economics and law. Within the intersection of AI and elections, however, sits a space to confront how the new tools already are, and will in the future, shape elections and democratic institutions.  

On 16 August in Chișinău, International IDEA brought together members and staff of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), chairpersons of District Electoral Councils (DECs) and representative of the Centre for Continuous Electoral Training (CICDE), for a hands-on workshop on electoral risk management. The training comes as Moldova prepares for its parliamentary elections on 28 September 2025.

The  Global Election Monitor (GEM) is the first interactive platform that provides an overview of 54 national elections during the 2024 elections super-cycle year and corresponding electoral integrity challenges and innovations in election administration. The GEM was launched on 31 March 2025 and is available on International IDEA website as a global public good.
