International IDEA, together with the Community of Democracies and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will co-host the Inter-Regional Workshop on the theme “Regional Organizations and the Promotion of Gender Equality and the Political Empowerment of Women”.

The conference facilitated the exchange of the best electoral risk management practices and popularize the concept as a new standard for conducting democratic elections was well achieved.

Discussions among 80 participants included theoretical and practical aspects of risk management in elections.

In recognition of the contribution and experiences of Regional Organizations in democracy building in conflict affected and fragile states, the Fifth High Level Meeting of the Inter-Regional Dialogue on Democracy reflected on the theme of “Building Peace and Democracy in Conflict Affected and Fragile States: The Role of Regional Organizations”. The Meeting was hosted by Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, represented by H.E. Dr.

Nearly 400 people gathered in the Swedish Parliament on Wednesday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of International IDEA on 16 September.
