The Africa and West Asia Programme of International IDEA is collaborating with the UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa and the African Union Commission to organize a strategic reflection meeting of women chairpersons of electoral management bodies (EMBs) in Africa on 5-6 August 2024, in Accra, Ghana. This meeting will be hosted by the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the Association of African Electoral Authorities. The meeting which is the first gathering of its kind aims to set the framework for the establishment of an African women leadership network in electoral management.
This strategic reflection meeting will bring together current women chairpersons of EMBs from nine African countries: Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Rwanda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

International IDEA is launching on 11 April the Perceptions of Democracy Survey (PODS), aimed at identifying how people understand and assess a range of attributes of democracy in their country contexts. Its unique value-add is a comparison of expert assessments and public evaluations of democracy and a comparison of representative samples and marginalized groups.
